Okayama Shrine for Diana, Japan, June 2006
Two very special friends, Fusae and Fumiyo, were so very kind to Diana when they learned that she was to have spine surgery in July. Fumiyo (in Okayama) sent Fusae (in the San Francisco Bay Area) "charms" for this shrine. Fusae brought the two pieces of the charms to Diana - one part to stay with her and the other to be hung at the shrine. Diana wrote wishes for successful surgery and a long, pain-free life on the back of the larger piece, which Fusae sent back to Fumiyo.
After my surgery, Fusae brought me 1000 origami cranes that the Japanese CDSMP leaders had folded for me. It touched me that so may people on the other side of the world would go to so much trouble for someone they barely knew or hadn't met.
